I just saw Part Two of NATURE: What Males Will Do.
Absolutely fascinating. I'd never heard of "Cryptic Female Selection" before watching this and I had NO idea that ducks do the same thing that big cats do when mating (and now I just read that lizards do this too)... while on top of the female, both male ducks and large male cats will bite (and lick where cats are concerned) the backs of the head / ears / neck of the female he is mating with.
Cryptic Female Selection is a damn cool thing and makes such good evolutionary sense! Out freaking standing that an animal would have this ability.
Now I want to watch Part One!!!
